Desire Alfred Magne

Desire Alfred Magne was a painter of genre, still life, animals and flowers.

He was born in Lusignan (Vienne). He studied at l'ecole Municipale des Beaux-Arts in Poitiers, then under the tutelage of Cabanel and James Bertrand in Paris. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1879 onwards. From 1894 Magne was a member of the Societe des Artistes Francais and in 1886 he was awarded an honourable mention. This success was continued in 1897 and 1907 when he won further medals for his paintings.
