Charles Henry Joseph Leickert

1816 - 1907

Charles Henri Joseph Leickert was born in Brussels in 1816. He was a talented artist and became known for his paintings of town scenes and landscapes. He studied under and was highly influenced by the great townscape artists of his day, Wijhandus Johannes Josephus Nuyen, Andreas Schelfhout and Johannes van Hove. Leickert's use of light and colour in his paintings is particularly striking.

Leickert exhibited regularly in The Hague and Amsterdam.
