Primarily an animal painter of the French School, George Frederic Rotig was born in Le Havre on 1st October 1873.
He studied in Paris where his tutors included B Constant, J Lefebvre and Jean Paul Laurens. From 1894 Rotig exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais to much acclaim and he was awarded several prestigious prizes and medals in 1902, 1904 and the Prix Rosa Bonheur in 1913.
Examples of his work may be found in several public collections in France including; Le Musee d'Amiens, Cambrai and the Museum of Le Havre.
