Biography

Frank Wootton was born in Milford in Hampshire on 30th July 1914. He won a scholarship to Eastbourne School of Art at the age of 14 and later travelled to Germany to paint. He then went to London where he became a commercial artist.

Wootton's paintings show sensitivity and make excellent use light.  His subjects varied from landscape, to aircraft, to equestrian (often in the style of Stubbs).  He was also the official R.A.F. artist for the period 1944-46 which led to many commissions, including one from King Ibn Saud and B.O.A.C.

As well as exhibiting in both England and abroad Frank Wootton  was the President of the Guild of Aviation Artists and author of 'How to Draw Aircraft', 'How to Draw Cars' and 'The Landscape Painting of Frank Wootton'.
