Biography

George Goodwin Kilburne was a London genre painter, watercolourist and engraver. He studied for five years with the Dalziel brothers, who were well known as engravers and illustrators. His charming portrayal of Victorian and Edwardian life was popularised through prints. In addition to exhibiting his paintings at the major London venues, Kilburne's work was also shown at the Grosvenor Gallery, which was founded in Bond Street by Sir Coutts and Lady Lindsay, and which was a favourite gallery of Burne-Jones and the Pre-Raphaelite followers. Exhibited Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Museums Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Sheffield Art Gallery
