||Vernon de Beauvoir Ward
Vernon de Beauvoir Ward was born in 1905 in Hampstead, North London. Son of an artist (his father was Albert Ward), Vernon was encouraged to explore his talent from an early age and studied art at the Slade School.
The subjects he treated include: landscapes, sporting, figure and portrait painting and the detailed study of birds. His work is particularly noted for its almost surreal use of light and his paintings often incorporate sparse untreated areas of canvas to remarkable effect.
His work has been extensively reproduced.
