Iban Navarro

b. 1982

Iban Navarro was born in Barcelona in 1982, the son of the still life and realist painter Jesus Navarro. Encouraged by his father to experiment in using difficult mediums to create a unique style, Iban took his advice and started to work in the medium of tempera. Tempera, also known as egg tempera, is a permanent fast-drying painting medium consisting of coloured pigment mixed with a water-soluble binder medium (usually egg yolk). Tempera paintings are very long lasting, and examples from the first centuries AD still exist. At the age of 20 Navarro was invited to exhibit works at El Corte Ingles in Barcelona, a great honour for such a young artist.
